WidEnergy Africa LTD is is very happy to report that we have been offered a 200,000 USD grant facility by the Rural Finance Expansion Programme (RUFEP). The women-led Zambian company was awarded the grant to support its “Product Based Micro-loans to underserved, off-grid and rural smallholder farmers and small businesses” project. The match-based grant funds will be used to scale the company’s activities in Zambia and increase the number of rural households connected to affordable renewable energy solutions.
WidEnergy is dedicated to delivering last-mile energy solutions and empowering women and girls in Africa. The company employs a PAYGO model to provide solar homes and products to rurally living Zambians, employing 80 women sales agents.
RUFEP is a joint program of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the Government of the republic of Zambia under the Ministry of Finance. The programme’s objective is to increase access to and use of sustainable financial services by poor rural men, women and youth.
